National Climate Forum held in Bishkek

Bishkek, Oct. 10, 2024. /Kabar/. Bishkek hosted on Thursday the National Climate Forum-Dialogue “Path to COP-29: Adaptation to Climate Change”, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan said.

“Climate change is a challenge that we face not only as a country, but also as a global community. Today's forum allows us to join forces to develop effective solutions that will help us adapt to these changes and ensure a sustainable future for all our citizens,” Asel Raimkulova, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources emphasized.

At the forum, government officials, international experts, business and civil society discussed ways to improve coordination and access to finance to support adaptation measures. Special attention was paid to vulnerable rural communities, whose interests are at the center of adaptation planning.

The forum discussed key issues such as:

- Climate Change Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

- Adaptation measures and development of green economy.

- Access to international climate finance.

- The importance of cooperation between sectors.

The discussions will be a step in shaping the position of the Kyrgyz Republic before the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in Baku.
