Tashkent, May 28, 2021. / Kabar / . As of April 1, 2021, the public debt of Uzbekistan, attracted under the state guarantee in foreign and domestic markets, amounted to USD 23.2 billion, or 40.1% of GDP, the press service of the Finance Ministry of the republic said.
Compared with the beginning of 2021, the public debt of Uzbekistan decreased by USD 133.7 million, or 0.3 percentage points of GDP.
The foreign debt of the country makes USD 21 billion, or 36.3% of GDP, the volume of the foreign debt decreased by USD 73.6 million, or 0.2 percentage points of GDP.
As of April 1, 2021 domestic debt made USD 2.2 billion (3.8% of GDP), a decrease of USD 60.1 million compared to the same period in 2020.
In particular, Uzbekistan's debt to the Asian Development Bank makes $5 billion, the World Bank - $3.8 billion, the China Export-Import Bank - $2 billion, the Japan International Cooperation Agency - $1.9 billion, the China State Development Bank and others - $2 billion, the Islamic Development Bank - $0.9 billion and other international financial institutions - $2.3 billion.
According to the Ministry of Finance, 70.4% of Uzbekistan's foreign debt is attracted in U.S. dollars, 11% in Japanese yen, 9.5% in SDRs, 5% in euros and 4.1% in other currencies.
