Kyrgyz MFA: 1,251 Kyrgyzstanis voted abroad as of 10 a.m.

Bishkek, Jan. 10, 2021. /Kabar/. As of 10 a.m. Bishkek time, 1,251 voters had voted abroad, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Azizbek Madmarov said at a briefing on Sunday.

According to his information, preparation and holding of elections were carried out taking into account the epidemiological situation related to coronavirus. Epidemiological security measures were strengthened.

"The early presidential elections of the Kyrgyz Republic and the referendum are a very important political event and a Headquarters was organized under the ministry. All the foreign institutions held meetings with compatriots and carried out explanatory work. 48 polling stations were organized abroad. Voting has not yet started in 24 of them due to time difference. But the voting is already going on in 24 of them. As of 10 a.m. Bishkek time, 1,251 voters had voted,” Madmarov said.

The deputy minister also said the list of voters abroad increased by 51% compared to the Oct. 4 parliamentary elections.

In addition, 333 international observers are monitoring the early presidential elections and referendum of Kyrgyz Republic.

96 representatives of foreign mass media were accredited to cover political event.
