Bishkek, Apr. 10, 2020. /Kabar/. According to preliminary estimates, in January-March 2020, Kyrgyzstan’s gross domestic product amounted to more than KGS 111 billion, and increased by 1.5% compared to the same period of last year, the press service of the National Statistics Committee of the republic said Friday.
Excluding enterprises developing the Kumtor field, the volume of GDP in January-March 2020 amounted to KGS 97 billion, and increased by 0.8%.
The volume of industrial production during the period under review amounted to about KGS 75 million, and decreased by 0.6% compared to January-March last year due to the growth of production of clothing (by 19.7%), textile production (by 15.4%), mining (by 16.1%), basic metals (by 7.5%) and in food production (by 4.3%).
Positive trends were observed in agriculture, where the volume growth made 1.4%, wholesale and retail trade - 4.9%, while in construction the volume decreased by 2.6%.
In January-March 2020 (compared to December of the previous year), consumer prices and tariffs in the country as a whole increased by 2.7%, which was due to the increase in prices for food products and soft drinks (by 5.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (by 5.1%).
At the same time, the tariffs for services rendered to the population remained unchanged in March this year compared to December last year, while the prices for non-food products decreased by 0.2%.
The increase of consumer prices and tariffs in the first quarter of this year in comparison with December 2019 was observed in all regions of the country, largest increase (3.5%) was recorded in the capital city of Bishkek.
