Number of unemployed people in Kyrgyzstan decreases by 2.5%

Bishkek, May 15, 2023. / Kabar /. The number of unemployed people in Kyrgyzstan decreased by 2.5% at the end of 2022, the country’s Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration said.

According to data of the ministry, during the reporting period, the number of employed people in the republic amounted to 2 million 537.9 thousand people, and the number of unemployed people - 142.6 thousand people.

At the same time, at the end of 2022, the number of registered official unemployed decreased by 2.5%, and the overall unemployment rate - by 0.5%.

The ministry noted that the decline was made possible thanks to active measures to promote employment, such as training for the professions most in demand on the labor market, vocational guidance for young people, assistance in finding employment and issuing KGS 100,000 to open a small business.

As a result, the level of official unemployment in the republic amounted to 2.9% of the economically active population.
