Since beginning of year, Kyrgyz economy’s decline makes 6.0%

In January-September 2020, according to preliminary estimates, gross domestic product of Kyrgyzstan amounted to more than KGS 400 billion, and decreased by 6.0% compared to January-September 2019, the press service of the country's National Statistics Committee reported.

Excluding enterprises developing the Kumtor field, the GDP volume in January-September 2020 amounted to more than KGS 350 billion and decreased by 7.1%.

During this period, the growth of consumer prices in the whole country made 2.9% (compared to December of the previous year). Meanwhile, prices for food products and soft drinks increased by 5.3%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 5.6%, and tariffs for services rendered to the population by 0.2%. Prices for non-food products during this period remained at the level of January-August of this year.

Since the beginning of this year, the maximum increase of consumer prices and tariffs was recorded in Talas Oblast (6.3 %), which is due to the largest increase of prices for food products and soft drinks (by 13.8 %).
