Wheat harvest in Kyrgyzstan decreases by 42.1%

Bishkek, Nov. 13, 2021 / Kabar /. The gross harvest of wheat in Kyrgyzstan decreased by 42.1% compared to the same date last year, the National Statistics Committee reported.

According to the data of the committee, as of Oct. 22 of this year, grain crops (excluding legumes, rice and buckwheat) were harvested from the area of ​​574 thousand hectares, which is 0.9% more than on the same date last year.

Along with this, 1.3 million tons of grain was threshed from the harvested area (excluding legumes, rice and buckwheat in the originally recorded weight), or 29% less.

The abnormally high temperature this summer and the lack of irrigation water during the growing season led to a decrease in the yield of grain crops.

At the same time, in the republic as a whole, the gross harvest of wheat compared to the same date last year decreased by 42.1%, barley - by 46.1%, oilseeds - by 25.5%, melons - by 13.3%. fruit and berry crops - by 4.2%, corn for grain - by 3.7%, potatoes - by 2.7% and vegetables - by 0.9%.
