Share of tourism in Kyrgyzstan’s GDP increases by 0.4%

Bishkek, Dec. 24, 2018. /Kabar/. In the first nine months of 2018, a positive growth rate was observed in the tourism sector of Kyrgyzstan, the Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism elaborated on the achieved indicators during a press conference at the Kabar News Agency today.

He said that in 2017, the share of tourism in the structure of the gross domestic product of Kyrgyzstan was 4.3%. As a result of measures taken to promote the tourist attractiveness of the country in the first nine months of this year, the figure increased to 4.7%.

In nominal volume, an increase of 0.4% amounted to more than 2 billion soms. So, last year the amount of cash receipts from tourist organizations amounted to 15 billion 197 million soms, while for the three quarters of 2018 it reached 17 billion 486 million soms.

The minister said that the volume of exports of tourism services for the specified period amounted to $ 356 million, while last year the service provided by domestic tourism enterprises was estimated at $ 27 million less – $ 329 million.

In addition, the positive dynamics were noted in the investment plan, and the volume of direct revenues compared with last year's figures increased by 1 billion 260 million soms, amounting to 15 billion 446 million soms.

Jamankulov noted that the Ministry also intends to continue to work on the tourism concept of the country and actively conduct an information campaign in foreign countries. In the aggregate, the measures taken should lead to the increasement of the share of tourism in the GDP structure of the republic to 15%.
