Statistics Committee: GDP growth in Kyrgyzstan up by 4.3%

According to preliminary estimates, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in January-February 2020 amounted to KGS 69 billion and grew by 4.3% compared to the same period last year, Chinara Turdubayeva, head of the statistics department of summary works and dissemination of statistics of the National Statistic Commitee of Kyrgyzstan said on Wednesday.

According to her data, excluding enterprises developing the Kumtor field, the GDP volume made about KGS 61 billion, and increased by 3.3%.

"Thus, the growth of industrial production in January-February 2020 amounted to more than KGS 46 billion, and increased by 9.8% compared to January-February last year due to the growth of textile production - 1.6 times, clothing production - 1.5, production of rubber and plastic products – by 46.7%, metal ore mining - 42.1%, wood processing and production of wood products - 9.2%, as well as food production - 3.8%," Turdubayeva added.

She also noted positive trends were observed in agriculture, where the growth rate was 1.7%, in wholesale and retail trade - 4.9%, in construction - 1.0%.
