Kyrgyzstan's GDP amounts to KGS 215 bln, declining by 1.6%

According to preliminary data, the gross domestic product in Kyrgyzstan in January-May 2021 amounted to KGS 215 billion, Chinara Turdubayeva, the head of the Summary Works and Statistical Information Dissemination Department of the republic’s National Statistics Committee said during a press conference Friday.

She added that Kyrgyzstan’s GDP decreased by 1.6% as compared to January-May 2020.

Excluding companies developing the Kumtor deposit, the GDP amounted to about KGS 192 billion, and it increased by 3.5% compared to the same period in 2020.

"The volume of industrial production in January-May 2021 made about KGS 127 billion and compared to January-May 2020 decreased by 9.7% due to the reduction of production of pharmaceutical products by 41%, chemical products by 31.6%, basic metals and finished metal products, except machinery and equipment by 29.4%, as well as mining of minerals by 4.3%,” the specialist added.
