Volume of production in Kyrgyzstan in 2018 increased by 5.4%

Bishkek, Apr. 9, 2019 / Kabar /. In 2018, industrial enterprises produced products in the amount of KGS 250.6 billion, the volume of production compared with 2017 increased by 5.4%. Excluding enterprises for the development of the Kumtor deposit (148.4 billion soms), the physical volume was 107.3%., the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported.

A positive contribution to the formation of GDP from industrial production is estimated at 1.0 percentage points, including enterprises developing the Kumtor deposit. The share of industry in the structure of GDP production was 18.6%.

The expected level of industrial production for 2018 has been reached and in fact has developed by 3.7 percentage points more.

The growth in industrial output in the reporting year was due to the stable operation of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC, which produced more than 534 thousand ounces of gold and, thus, exceeded the annual target figure for metal production (510 thousand ounces) and the increase of finished product output at the gold production plant Altynken LLC by 2.9 times, as well as an increase in mineral extraction by 8.1%.

Also, the growth in industrial production was ensured due to the growth in the production of precious metals by 4.4%, and mineral extraction by 8.1%. Without the development of the Kumtor mine, production increased by 7.3%.
